Air con air director control out of sync
Whilst fitting an AUX connector to my audio 20 I managed to pop of the right knob on the air con unit which, when in manual, controls where the air comes out of.
It only seems to fit in one position but the indicator doesn't seem to match where the air is coming out of.
This seems to be a soft control as it spins all around so is there any way of re-syncing this control?

you have to manually resync the position controls. You'll have to remove the controls again and remove the knob. When off leave the harness on and turn the car on and run the air. You can freely turn the air flow from the back of the control. From there you can match the air flow to where the knob is pointed to. I had to do this once and it was pretty easy. Just be real careful when putting the knob back on or the sync will be off again.

Thanks for that.
Took apart the rear of the unit and made sure all the controls were aligned correctly.
In fact I think they were probably right to start with, just seems that when the control points up I don't get anything from the windscreen vents.
I do get air from the windscreen vents when in de-mist mode.
Maybe the unit is faulty.

Driving home last night, after a few miles I turned the air con to manual and turned the director switch to up.
Hot air came blasting out of the windscreen vents so I think it was probably working all along. It looks like when the engine is not running or not hot enough the controls still aren't as "manual" as you'd expect them to be.

There is a re-sync hidden function.
If you have the old fashioned controls like I do, you push
2 buttons on the controls...
uh, I can't remember which 2.
Recirc and defrost?
Hold them down, and they'll start blinking back and forth,
let it run for a few minutes, then turn off the car and back again.
If it runs continually I think it means there's an error.
My flap for the floor vent is stuck open, so it runs continually.
