Teleaid, SOS Button not working 2005k

Hello

I searched the forum and there was no answer to this. My car came with the Teleaid system with the SOS button in the upper console. Back when i first got the car i pressed the buttons out of curiosity and it gave me an audible test saying it was testing for functionality etc but that i wasn't subscribed to the service (i wasn't and I still am not) but recently i pressed the buttons and now they do nothing, like they have been disabled. i checked the fuses and they are good to go. anything else i can check? its not really crucial but i would like to know why it stopped working :-S
thanks!

Mercedes Benz switched the SOS from analog to digital as of January 1, 2008. You can convert it to digital but heard it's costs a lot of money. Surprised you don't get any teleaid/sos malfunctions.

Found some more info here. Too long so I didn't read it but it has some TSBs that might come in handy if you meet them.
