Shocks and struts
I'm lowering my car soon with lowering springs and thought it would be a good time to change to 05+ sport sedan shocks and struts (i read somewhere that they were a bit different since they came dropped from the factory)
So if anyone has a set laying around from when they switched to coilovers or whatever, pm me

If youre going to lower your car I'd recommend getting different ones than the SS struts unless youre getting SS springs as well because other lowering springs are going to lower your car lower than the SS struts want to travel so you're struts are going to wear out faster and bottom out. I'd go with some Koni Yellows if you're going to get aftermarket struts. H&R springs + Koni Yellows = great combo, good drop and adjustable dampening. Just remember Konis will actually drop your a little bit more.

i already got the springs, tein s techs and i was looking at the konis but thats way more money than im willing to spend
would i run into any problems if i put the stechs on the stock 03 4x4 suspension? (other than it being worn down faster)

I can tell you from personal experience that you will notice at times their will be a springy sound and i assumed that is because of the stock struts/shocks being put under more strain. also as with any lowered car you will notice bumps more nothing ridiculous

2005 MB C230K Sport Sedan & 2011 MB C300
My 05 c230 sedan was lowered with eibach pro kit springs. When I went to change the stock struts out for Bilstein sports I noticed that the springs had been cut about a coil or so in order to lower It a bit more. The previous owner of the car did this. I went ahead and installed the bilstein shocks anyway and the ride is much stiffer.
The ride with my stock shocks were bouncy because they were completely worn out.

is the drop with s techs on a pre facelift suspension going to be the same as an 05+ SS with s techs? (the height, not stiffness)

The drop on s. Tech are different from the SS and non SS models. The springs only drop the SS about 1/2" and drop its like 1.5" or more on the other models. Youre ride will be bad if you decide to put the teins on the oem struts since basically you'll be driving on half of a strut since the car will be lowered. It'll sound like you're cars bottoming out when you go over big dips and bumps.

the non ss will drop lower because it started out way higher right?
but in the end the ride height is the same on both the ss and non ss with the stechs?
