One brake light is out. New bulb didn't help.
Got a "Left brake light" warning the other day. Assumed the bulb was burnt out. Took it out and indeed it had a black 'hotspot' on the glass. Picked up some new 7506 bulbs at the auto parts store and tried both, but it still won't work. Taillight and blinker work fine, and the right side works fine. Makes me think the problem is something deeper, but not sure what would be wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.

did you clean the connection? that is a very common issue on our cars where the crap on the connector makes the car think the bulb is out. If that is not the case I would also swap a bulb you know works in your car. I have had generic bulbs from auto stores act up in my car. I ended up replacing all the bulbs in my car with ones from the Mercedes dealership to solve my weekly even of replacing a bulb somewhere.
