Brake Assist Warning Light

Ok, new problem.

The brake assist warning light is on. Last week I did an inspection and I had them finally reset the SRS Malfunction Light that was the remnant of the big electrical problem that I had over the Spring and Summer.

Anyway today this new error pops up. Only comes on when the engine is on. When I put the tires in the car last week the Mavis tire techs said tha I should do a brake fluid change. Anyway what is the cheapest way that I can go about diagnosing and getting this problem resolved?

Thanks!

I was reading older posts apparently it could be something as simple as the sensor. Which I certainly hope. Anyone know where I can get the sensor and how it's replaced?

The Cruise Control also stopped working and in addition, the car was built in June 2001.

Hope This Helps with the Diagnosis

If it is the same issue - sounds like it is - see this THREAD. I had the same problem and replaced the switch and it was fine. It should have the part number and pictures. It was a pretty quick, easy and cheap fix.

With your car being built in June of '01 you should have the same brake switch. It does appear that if the switch fails, it will not allow the cruise control to work. If that is the case, it is a quick 30 minute fix for all of about 20 bucks.

I'll check the dealer on Monday before work to see if I can get that part. The car is pretty old and the symptoms are so similar to the other users who have the car with that same problem.

The car has about 82,300 Miles and it is about roughly 10 years old so I guess this is I be expected.

I'll check the BAS fuses. When this snowstorm is over tomorrow. Hard to believe we are ALREADY experiencing snow the leaves are still on the tree lol.

Anyway I'll update you guys soon. As always thanks. I truly hope it's a simple fix.

The problem is gone for now. I didnt do anything nor did I make any changes and the problem is now gone at this point. Again I hate when problems occur and dissappear without any reason, so I guess ill leave it be for now. If it resurfaces, then ill resurface the thread . More than likely though it could very well be that sensor that is going bad like some of you mentioned. .
