C280 ESP malfuntion and go to workshop msg.
Hi, Guys:
This is 2006 C280 sedan. Today I meet another issue.
On highway 5 at speed about 75 mph, when I try to set
speed crusiser control, I have heard a beep sound, and the "ESP
malfunction and go to workshop" display shows up.
While ESP alarm light does NOT come up, I don't feel any abnormal
driving behaviour, such as brake, accelate, etc, but I can not
set the speed cruiser control. ESP control button is NOT touched
and the OFF LED is not on.
After arrive at home, and I go through the user manual about
ESP information for about 30 minutes, then I start the car to
check, the ESP malfunction msg has GONE. Then I go to local
express way, I find that I can set speed cruiser control. Everything
is back to normal.
Does anyone have any idea or experience? Thanks.

Sometimes the ESP goes off because you might need a new battery. Mines a 06 and mine just came on. Everything works fine so its probably because I need a new battery. 6 years on an OEM battery is quite a long time. Plan on getting either an OEM, Optima, Interstate, or Odyssey. Im looking at the Interstate Megtron Plus battery right now, its around 170, part# MTP-49/H8

You will occasionally get ghost warnings on these cars. My car told me ESP was not available on the highway one day in 2008 when it had 29,000 miles. Today it has 122,000 and it has never done it again.
