Maybe Lynn or another tech person could help?

That's never happened for us.

One of the very knowledgeable people.

Is there a way you can duplicate this problem right in front of your service tech, and compare with other cars on the lot right then and there?

I mentioned this in one of his earlier threads on this same topic. Make an appointment to drive the car with your service rep and get the thing diagnosed and fixed!

Yes I do have this problem with my C240. I don't know what the problem is but I think it is the engine that vibrates as if it is off balance but it is not that big of a vibration either. Yes the problem dissapear after the engine warms up. What is the mileage on your car? Mine is still 1K miles .
I don't plan to do anything about it right now. It bothers me a bit but I am worried once I start taking the car to the service department, I ended up having more problems. If your car is still having low mileage, just wait a bit until the problem becomes worse so that the mechanice can easily identify the problem. May be it is one of those that needs break in period.

Hi, I am new to this forum and this is the first MB in my life.

Yes I am also having the same problem on my C230K sedan. Like my friend said, it rattles like a 'shrimp'. Especially in the cold mornings (55F ~ 60F), the engine shakes violently like being choked when I put in 'Drive' gear. But if I just start moving, everything goes fine and smoothly. However, I schedule a diagnostic, ready to leave the problem to technicians.

This problem should be okay if you are driving $15k car, but I think it's not tolerable for MB.

My C230K is only 3 weeks old, did we get the same shipment?

You say you have been posting this problem for a long time and that your engine vibrates violently. Are you waiting for your engine to explode or something ? Take it to your dealer immediately.

my is about 4 weeks old, 3300 miles, do u guys think this has anything to do with downshifting the car manually too quick during break in period and cause it to stop?

When I first got my car, I had this problem too. After I start the car, I put it in Drive right away, it shakes very violently. I just let the engine warm up a bit like 30 to 60 secs. Then I don't have this problem, nor the high rev in first gear. I never took it to the dealer, 'cause I never get this problem at any other times.

Most vehicles produced today have a warmup period of 15-30 seconds, where the exhaust gases are routed into the intake to warm the catylitac converter up quicker. I always give the throttle a little blip before I put any car in gear or drive off. This gets the engine to settle a little at first. When first started you will notice that the RPM's are up a bit over idle for the first 15-30 seconds, this is for the initial engine warm-up period. You also will have a little more bouncing of the RPM's on any car as the oil starts flowing and everything else starts flowing and warming up. This is all normal, you probably don't just hop out of bed in the morning and are ready to go, so why do you expect the car to be able to do the same. Just start the car and wait a few seconds before taking off and you problems will be solved. I use this time to adjust the raido and get situated so I may drive off.

Thanks for your advice, but I do spend around 30 seconds to warm up the engine. I'll give it another try.

Anyway, do you still let the engine warm up now? or you just start and drive away? Thanks.

Okay, someone said the octane value 91 gas.. Yes, I have been always using Shell octane 91 gas since I got my first car. What brand/kind of gas are you guys using?

Yes I always warm up my car. I just noticed the violent shake if I don't. But I try to let it warm up for like a min or so.
I agree with mctwin2kman above. It must not be good for the car to start it and drive right away on cold starts.
