C-Spot Drive Tour-Dallas-Pics
Second stop on the C-Spot Drive Tour began today and runs through tomorrow in Dallas, at Texas Motor Speedway...
Four basic areas:
1) Huge A/C Display tent with videos, car displays, refreshments/food, videogames, fashion shows (with video that can't be shown here), Golf driving range and putting green (I love golf, but ?) and a nice sponsorship display of Sirius equipped cars: C230K Coupe, C-Sedan, CLK, SLK, ML, G, SL500, CL500, S600, etc.

Area #2, the "Dangerous Curves" participatory drive area... All the non 4-matic C's short of the C32...
I drove a C230K Sport Sedan and a C320 Coupe. From the start line, there was a straight stretch about 1/4 mile long, where you put your foot in it.
The C230K Sport Sedan is definitely faster than the C240, but the acceleration is no match for the C320 Sedan. The C320 Coupe was very nice (no, extremely nice)... kicks the 4-cylinders hands down in acceleration. Sorry guys, just being objective.

Area #3, the "Slippery When Wet" Drive area... 4-Matic equipped cars, from C240, to C320 and C320 Wagon... Chance to spin someone else's wheels in the wet... FUN! These Pics were taken during lunch hour... a great time to go since the lines are shorter.
I'm not showing much of the cars, because you folks know what they look like. All the drive areas were a series of slalom courses with cones.

Area #4, the crowning joy of the Event, "Red Hot Laps" featuring rides in the C32 AMG... Serious speed at the hands of a "pro" driver. He wears a helmet, and so do you, because you need it... I banged my head on the roof/window sills several times.
They had a 1.25 mile circuit (guestimate) coned out along the whole length of the TMS Parking lot. You cover the whole distance in about a minute, from a dead stop. Very high speed sweepers, topping out at 110-115 before an extreme brake test at the far end.
They did several 0-100-0 demos for the crowd. One of the drivers told me they will go through a full set of tires each day of the event for each car (they had 6 in the queue). All parties exiting the cars had HUGE Smiles on their faces.
If you're wondering whether to go to this event, this is THE REASON... I took two rides on this one... Amazed each time. If you're reading this in the Dallas area Sunday morning, Run--do not walk--to your car, and go to this event. There were hundreds of people there, so I'm sure walk-ins are welcome.
