Using phone hook-up for subwoofer bass control

I got a new amp, and it has a separate knob that can be wired up into the car and mounted on the dash, to control the bass level. It uses a standard size phone jack and wire.
Anyone know if it's possible, or if anyone has tried. To tie into the phone system somewhere in the trunk, then just plug into the console phone plug?
This way I wouldn't have to tear the interior apart to get the knob wired into the console since the phone wiring is already there.
I know I would need to convert the regular phone jack for the knob, over to an RJ-50 for the phone system.

Ah.. I doubt that.. and it may not be a starndard phone plug either.. my Pioneer PRS amp has a sub boost knob with what looks like standard phone plug and its not.

You may just want to leave the knob in the trunk near the amp. set it once.. dont have to play with it all the time

I'm sure you could do this, but you'd have to figure out where those wires running to the center console start. Should be in the trunk wiring harness where the telephone module goes. You'd have to start cutting into and splicing wires. I'd prefer to run the amp remote.

It actually may not be a standard phone jack. All companies use different patterns for their tips for their cords.it looks the same, but more than likely it's different.

Pretty sure the jack in the console is an RJ-50, just a little different size than the standard RJ-45(Cat5). The amp knob uses a standard size phone jack, so there will have to be some cut and splice there.

My main issue is locating the phone module in the trunk.
Anyone know which side it's on? What it looks like? Any pics?
