Code 2080 exhaust temp sensor and MIL

Code 2080 exhaust temp sensor and MIL
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
The other day MIL came on - no other issues - got an OBD reader and identified that the 2080 code was the problem.
I erased the code and all seem fine
Not sure what to do next
1 Is the problem still there even though the light has gone off - how does OBD see the problem again ?
2 Do i need to replace the EGT sensor - is this a big job
3 Will this effect emissions as due for MOT this month
She has done 90k miles and in good shape
