Question Question

Im taking in my car tomorrow to get some issues taken care of. my service advisor said i can only get a loaner for 1 day and no more than that. is this true? if not, how long can one have a loaner for? as long as the car is in right? help please. i am taking in my car to HOI. but i might cancel the appointment and move it to RUSNAK arcadia instead. has anyone dealt with rusnak? and can you tell me how their service is? thank you.

that's ridiculous

just keep the loaner for as long as your car is in the shop. what are they going to do? say you stole the loaner? that's ridiculous. i have no clue what the dealerships are like in LA (i'm in atlanta), but i've never heard of a dealer (mercedes or other) making someone return the loaner before their car is ready.

My dealer lets me keep the loaner for as long as I need, but as I understand it loaners are a dealer courtesy and not necessarily a standardized perk of owning an MB.

Actually, yes they will. I am helping a friend move his business from a francise to a privately held rental company.

When you rent a car or receive a loaner, you sign a contract that states the length of time you will have the vehicle. Keep it just 5 minutes beyond that time, and the company has full right to report the car stolen, and if they want to, they will. We had someone arrested last week for keeping the car one week beyond the time in the contract. She was arrested for Grand Theft Auto and jailed. The companies in the cities would not normally wait that long.

My dealership doesn't have "loaners". There is an inhouse Enterprise Car Rental place. MB compensates them for my "loaners". Enterprise would report the car stolen.

that's absurd...

granted, you sign for the loaner and you shouldn't keep the car for weeks (or even days) after your car is ready in the shop. that wasn't the point though. the dealer should not OFFER a loaner if a loaner is unavailable. OBVIOUSLY the loaner vehicle in question was NOT available for the amount of time that it would take for the service to be performed. when i call to make an appointment to bring my car in for service they ask me on the phone whether i'll need a loaner. sometimes i do, sometimes i don't. if i don't need one then they'll tell me that i can bring my car in anytime and drop it off with them. if i DO need a loaner, they will tell me when the next available appointment is where a loaner will be available.

the dealer should have told intakex that a loaner vehicle would not be available until such-and-such date. the idea of having a loaner is for convenience - is it really any more convenient to have to drive to the dealer, drop off your car, take the loaner home, bring the loaner back to the dealer the next day (hopefully with someone following you to take you back home), then get a ride BACK to the dealer when your car is ready? and in the meantime be without ANY car?

MB pays for the loaners and yes it is a perk and something they get paid for on all warranty service work performed. So yes if they are billing MB for the loaner you should get one. I was told by my dealer that not only will I get a loaner every service visit but that they will also pick my car up for me and drop it back off. This is what was used as a sales tactic and I will exploit it the best I can and I expect to always get it. They should be required to give you a loaner if your car is in the shop for a full day or more. That is what Chrysler is doing to sell more Pacifica's and Crossfire's, the one perk that comes over from MB on those models, they do not get the free oil changes yet, but this is a start to get more people buying high end Chrysler's.

Last time I had an Enterprise they called me to get the car back but the dealer was not done with the service work yet so I kept it and told them I was keeping it. Some car wash employee tried to rip the door off my old Neon using a brick wall, so the car wash had to pay for the rental and the body work. So I kept the car as I did not wreck mine. I had the rental for almost two weeks, was only supposed to have it a weekend. But I only said that to get the car so I could go to the funeral I was heading too. Anyway, the moral is that they will call you and you tell them you are keeping it til the car is done getting serviced. Cause that is what MB pays for.

My dealer gives me an MB the entire length of the service, and provides a driver when I don't want the loaner...the driver takes me home and back to the dealer when my car is ready.

Mine offers all MB's as well. They added 30 new C's to the fleet when around the time I bought mine.

mine give me toyota camry LE loaners as long as the repair is in. Of course they never actually fix anything right, the cars are somewhat not well maintained. Also, once they call you that your car is fixed i think u have to return the loaner within 24 or 48 hrs. Its a lose rule though as I was out of town for 3 days once and they were fine with it.

well i ended up not getting my car serviced. they tried to charge me to get the no telephone feature taken off. and they kept on insisting there was no way possible, even after i presented them the instructions. i was promised that they would take it off before i purchased my car and the day my car came in. the sales lady asked me to come back another day because the service department was very busy. well the other day i was there the SA said he was gonna charge me, so i talked with my sales lady's boss since she was on a two month "vacation". and he said he would get it taken care of and to call him back. i called him yesterday, he didnt call me back. hes done this many times, on serveral occasions. well he again said it was impossible, and that the instructions i gave him were bogus. i expected better, but thats what i get for going out of my way to drive all the way to HOI when rusnak arcadia is less than 2 miles away.

As long as your car is in the shop, they have to provide you a loaner. I tried all kind of C : C230coupe, sedanC240, C320 wagon. haha.... too bad they only offer C class for loaner.
I spent almost 800 miles on the coupe in 4 days.
