Headlamp Washers
How many of us actually use the headlamp washers? I've never found that to be a useful feature. I suppose if I lived in the snow belt it would be a different story.

nope, don't use them at all. they spray soap all over the hood. i'm not even sure they still work after my repair work. it is fun to show them off, but they're worthless otherwise.

Ordered mine April 15th (tax day, ironically). I'm picking it up tomorrow (June 27). It's been a long wait. I sold my daily driver back in early February. Can't get here soon enough!!

On my SLK, I used it once. The day I picked up the car I asked my father to look at the bumper...there is something wrong...and I sprayed them. He got wet, I laughed...and 5 years later it was the only time I used it.

I used mine in the winter to clean the lights while on the highway. After my first re-fill of the washer fluid I no longer had the soapy crap on the hood. Although it does spray Rain-X everywhere I still use them, but now during the rain to clean the old lights. This is very helpfull for the Xenon cleanings and does take some scum off the lights. I find them very usefull.

actually, i take back what i said earlier. i do agree they can be useful in the winter. in the winter (if your car is a daily driver), your car is already covered with crap (salt, snow, dirt) so using the washers to clean off ice, dirt, salt, etc. is very useful especially if you have xenons and have become used to actually being able to SEE the road at night. i hate halogens now!!

I keep saying I'm going to try them, but never have in 21 months! They were mandatory w/ my Xenon lights, but never knew why. For 2002, I believe they were part of the C4 package w/ heated seats so I was getting them anyway. I think they've changed the package content for 2003...

I've heard that in some countries headlamp washers are required with xenons for some reason or another. Something to the effect of them being so bright to oncoming drivers and dirt particles on the lamps cause a loss of focus.

i think its the european countries which require the headlamp washers. if you look at most cars with xenon headlights from u.s. and japan the most of them dont have headlamp washers. i think the only u.s. cars ive seen with headlamp washers are the envoy, trailblazer cars, but i dont know if they have xenons or not.

I found a good reason to have the Washers. I live in Colorado and in the winter I couldn't see with my Xenon’s because the snow just accumulated on the housing since the Xenon's emit next to no heat to melt it...one plus for Halogens. The washers washed the snow right off them...but then the next morning one of the washers was sticking out of the bumper, it was surrounded by ice, which pushed it out of the bumper...

if you were going to turn right at a stop light, but some moron, which are like 90% of drivers (underestimating maybe), you can squirt the car in front of you for taking over the right lane instead of it taking the left lane letting you go right. there are other examples.
