Ipod and phone connection

Ipod and phone connection
I just got my first MB and love it. I tried to hook my bluetooth phone to the car's phone and it wouldn't work. The output on the dash just says 'no phone'. It doesn't have a menu to search for 'new'. I also want to add my ipod. I searched on ipod gateway and found a lot of info. What is the difference between the gateway 100, 500 and lite? I would *like* to have a nav unit. Should I just replace the head unit?

I'm a bit new here too, but here's what i've found out. Most of our C-class Benz's don't have the phone option, it's pretty much a fancy looking radio changer. I asked how much it'd be to integrate one, and you're looking about half of the value of your car estimating. Well at leasts that's what my dealership told me haha.
On the iPod, you can purchase a wire for around 50$ or get the iPod integration kit from your dealership for 200$. I opted for the integration kit and am very happy with the product! If it's compatible with your vehicle, opt to do the install yourself. Took me 3-4 hours. Hope this helps in some way. On the Head unit, i wouldn't know much about it. But you could probably find a good afermarket unit that has all of the capabilities you're inquiring on.
