C 200 K 2002 model/ black
Talking New member!

Hi everybody!

I 've been coming here quite a while and frankly it's the best carsite on the web...I own a black 2002 C 200 Kompressor (sedan) and I have driven for 2 years prior to the benz a 2001 BMW 318i (which i still enjoy to drive but it's my parents' car)
Since everybody seems to compare these 2 cars in the same way (luxury vs performance) I will try to do it differently
In the thread posted a few days ago ( 325i vs 230K) I was shocked that 2 totally different cars were compared!!
I mean if u want to compare the 230k, compare it to the new 320ti!!! In which case the Benz beats it in all categories...
Anyway...I don't know much about these 2 cars but let me just give some info that only people who have driven both brans can make:

-Yes handling is better on a BMW
-NO, performance is not always better in a BMW:
take the example of 325 i vs C 240 (cuz at least those 2 cars can be compared):
If you plan on racing from a standstill the Benz won't stand a chance, but let's be realistic here for a second....that doesn't happen very often . If you are doing 50 miles/hr (80 km/h) and start your "race" from here I can assure you that the benz will reach the 90 miles/hr mark before the BMW...I m not assuming anything here, it has been tested in some magazine i read... I think this is pretty important don't you??

By the way I adore both brands so don't think i prefer one on the other !

I m sure that this subject has gotten pretty boring by now but I couldn't help myself!

I have a question : why don't you guys have C 200 K engines in the US on sedans? If you look at the specs, they are basically the same as that of the C 240 (from 0-60 there's like a 0.1 sec difference and form 50-80, the C 200k matches the C240)
I was just curious...

Hey, does anyone here have any new street racing stories to tell?

Keep up the interesting discussions !

Both MB and BMW are fine examples of German engineering. The only real difference is in the philosophy of each company's approach to reach their desired market segment.(define the meaning of this to suit your mood/taste/brand loyalty... and move on)

good racing story?
heheh

Last night, on the way home from a hockey game, a guy in a BMW Z3 pulls up next to me at a light and starts revving his engine. My girlfriend's reaction was simply "Don't!"...
Let me continue by telling you it was raining pretty hard, and visibility wasn't all that great. Anyway, the light turns green, we both stand on it...The BMW reels, engine screaming, back tires spinning. My ESP is flashing like a downtown Christmas tree that had to much eggnog. His wheels still spinning, I pull away...girfriend slapping my arm as I shift from 1-2-3 etc.(Do BMW's not have traction control?)
Anyway, after that, the girlfriend's giggling and laughing. The guy pulls up at the next light...and she's now taunting him...pointing and laughing. He goes again, but I just let him fly by. My turn off was coming up and 'mama didn't raise no dummy'.

Was my car better? Probably not.

Would the result be different in other conditions? Probably.

But that's not what makes a good story ...good.

Welcome to the board, ram15. I think the reason only the 240 engine is available in North America is it fits the image MBUSA has established here. The V-6 is a smoother, more "refined", more "sophisticated" engine than the C200k.

Thumbs up

Welcome, and congrats to an excellent car/engine-choice

Now, I'm not the only C200K sedan driver in this forum!
