Why do dealerships like to bait & Switch these cars?

I called and went to 3-4 dealerships. The cars are newly listed. When I call or or show up to the dealership they say they no longer have it or they would try to sell me another car. Sometimes I get disappointed because I get all worked up about the car only to be let down.

Isn't there some federal laws against that. At least state laws.
If that's what really happened, report them to the BBB and your state attorney general.

Never really experienced that with any used car, but maybe it is happening, then. I guess it is more commonplace with new cars.

Maybe it has happened to me, but I usually know exactly what I want and if the dealer does not have what I want, I'm out of there. They either have the car I want or they don't. I don't have time to listen to their BS.

maybe for false advertising. I learned that some dealership share the same inventory. I think they get a commission by helping another dealership sell a car that another dealership has in inventory while the other doesn't but they list the car other their dealership.

Nowhere ...Fast
ask them to show you a bill of sale/bill of transfer or some document that would justify that that car has actually been there and then was "gone"...along with a dated advertisement copy that captures dealership's name- and you got a false advertisement case!
