I guess dealers complained that they were being stuck with manuals that were difficult to move. I don't know why the dealerships don't just order automatics and leave the manual as a special order option.

Ok - it is 2:15 and just got back - with lunch in the middle.
Ordered a Silver, C5, CD, and AMG swaybars (getting them for $180 for two bars and bushings). No new '04 pricing yet, but will discount so they make 500 bucks on the car. I stopped and drove the G35 first then off to drive the C320 (auto) coupe. The MB is the car for me. Sure the G35 had all kinds of power, but I just like the C320 much better.
They did check the build schedule and no 6 speeds to be built soon, so mine may be the first for '04. I would like to wait for the new dash, but I like this one fine and the wife will not go for any more time lost on this project.
Now 2:40 - boss (wife) keeps calling
Have a great day!!

Yes, I believe that is true. The way I read it is that both sport sedans (230 and 320) and both coupes will still be available in manual. Also, the 320 sport package is an option again, instead of being a separate model. The 230 is still a separate model and comes only in sport trim.

That's a good question. I don't know that either. I guess it's always possible that it will be a no cost option, but I doubt it. They will probably start charging for it. However, that's only fair that they do that. It must have been something special they did to try to increase interest for a year, and now they will charge if you want it. However, this applies only to the 320, so you're paying quite a bit for the car anyway, at least 40K.

Well rats.
So, for 2004 there will be no:
o in-dash CD player?
o universal handy interface for phone?
o Sirius sat radio hook up?
o clear lenses for halogen headlamps?
o aero wipers?
Poopers, was kind of getting used to the idea that waiting for '04 model was going to bring in these changes.

Apparently not. Although some people are saying that there will be some changes mid-year. I guess you'll have to keep waiting.

Is there an online version of the brochure you saw anywhere or will we just have to wait till the cars are released from the VPC?

As I posted in another thread, we got our first '04 today, a C230WZ. It has few changes. It has the new wipers which are just a strip of rubber with a hard spine that holds it flat. It is only attached to the wiper arm from a central pin. This makes it very easy to change wiper blades, but I'm willing to bet they cost more. This is the same design as many of the higher end MB's now have.
The center console upper tray now opens with buttons on either side and can open to the left or to the right, but not by pulling back. This is similar to the new CLK design. The bottom tray still opens the same way.
And finally, the door lock pins are the same as the ML pins. It is more of a straight pin instead of having the wider top.
That's all I noticed so far.

I just saw the thread with pictures for the C55 AMG in the C32 forum. Do you think that is representative of the new C-class face-lift in 2005? It looks really good. As far as I can tell, it has the new clear halogen headlamps. I may be mistaken though. Just wanted to know what you guys think...
I like it. It looks like the CLK headlamps. I would have waited for the change if I had known in advance.
