Whether it does or it doesn't the rest of the engine and drivetrain would not take the extra power that a bigger blower would put out.
You have to realize that there are many considerations when designing an engine, and power output is perhaps not necessarily the number one criteria. The manufacturer/engineers have to look at driveability, reliability, emissions, NVH, durability, fuel economy, performance across all environmental conditions (hot, cold, damp, dry, altitude), etc etc. The engine that we end up is usually the best compromise across the spectrum considering all the factors. While you can an insane amount of power from any engine it comes with a cost, eg F1 engines pumping huge hp from only 2.4L but the engine only has to last 2 races or about 500 miles at the most

The single best option in getting better power is to buy a car that comes with it standard which means going from a C230 to C350; or from a C350 to C32/C55. Let the car company do all the leg work as their engineers and R&D is miles ahead of what we can do in our backyard. Yes we can tweak the car and improve on it but to redesign an engine that was not initially intended is foolhardy and usually a recipe for disaster

Agreed, yet the biggest issue with the M271 is tuning - the block can take 300 hp. My old dealership ran 2 M271 C230 race cars so they coould compete in the < 2.0L division. They had the head PnP, TB bored, pulleys, Kleemann headers, ... yet had to have Mercedes engineers tune the ECU remotely from Germany, and eventually went standalone to get the most power out of it. Those cars were easily putting down 300 hp.

No tuner cracked the ECU to allow it to be tuned. This is why Kleemann uses the "K-box" with its pulleys for the M271. The K-box essentially overrides sensors values to trick the ECU into delivering more fuel and not retard the timing. Renntech only had a pulley for the M271 and eventually discontinued it cause there was no tune available.

OP, you can put a larger blower on, yet the increased air flow is going to cause the ECU to go nuts and protect the engine. Unless you want to run standalone you'll never realize the gains.

For Mercedes I agree. For Mercedes engines that can be tuned, its often much cheaper to just buy the next most powerful model. Yet this is not true for many other manufacturers where affordable reliable kits are available.

Anyone know the different from a supercharger to a turbocharger as far as acceleration, horse power, etc?

I have the Kleemann header plu the Kleemann boost kit installed, along with an ECU tune by Kleemann. I am quite happy with the performance increase and it did not need a "K-box". Still getting 29-32 mpg on the highway and 22-25 mpg in town also

Did you ever have a chance to dyno it? Would love to see what it puts down.
