Steering Wheel Makes Noise....why?
I have a 2007 MB C230
the check engine light keeps going on & off, found out it was my cam sensor & crank. got it changed
but recently, my steering wheel makes noise sometimes when i turn the wheel. its like a hollow noise, i don't know how to explain it
what could be the problem & solution?
thanks in advance

Is the sound coming from the actual steering wheel? Or from the engine compartment? Or ouside the car?
As Samaritrey said, check the fluid and a clip of the sound would help.

It could be your power steering fluid level. I'm not sure where it is located on the c230 but on my c320 it is located underneath the right intake pipe. I keep a bottle of Mercedes PSF in my garage and check the level every time I change my oil.

the noise is definitely coming from outside the car, probably from the engine compartment. its not from inside
i can't really get a clip of the noise because it randomly happens when i'm driving & its not a loud enough sound for the recorder to capture the noise.
its sort of a hallow noise. what fluids would be needed you think?

Are you turning the wheel all the way to lock? Does the sound happen when you turn the wheel a little? Does the sound happen when moving? Or only when still?
I would be checking power steering fluid for sure, as already stated. That would be the first thing to do.

no, i don't necessarily turn the wheel all the way. the slightest turn onto a street & sometimes it'll make the sound. never when i'm still.
i guess i'll check the power steering fluid this weekend
