Latest ASP Pulley

Does anyone who has the latest version from ASP ever notice anything about the size of the pulley?

I just installed mine a while ago and I noticed something right after I slid it onto the crank: the size seemed too big! Then I took it off and measured the diameter. Guess what, they went back to 8-13/16" again - this was their very first size that caused rubbing! Their second version was 8-11/16" which was fine; the diameter for the stock pulley is 7-9/16" BTW.

But I was like "what the heck!" and put it back on anyway and turned on the engine. After 10 seconds of running I saw an obvious rubbing mark on the water pump pulley.

Why am I not surprised? ASP is not in the Mercedes only business so unless you tell them exactly what to do you might not get the right design. On the up side, you will get more power out of it. LOLROTF

That explains why I went from 186HP with the last alloy pulley to 193HP with the steel pulley on the dyno, cool! They'll remachine it for you if you ask but Kleemann always contended that the rubbing was minor and didn't affect it's operation, their pulley also cause the belt to rub against the waterpump pulley. Either way, your choice what size you want, personally I'm happier with the few extra ponies since my pulley has already been striped...

Nah... the water pump pulley has already been stripped also so it doesn't matter anymore.

But it's good to let ASP know so they can make the change for their future pullies. Then mine will become a collector's item!

Yeah, my Kleeman pulley has always rubbed and it's not a problem. Once it rubs off a bit of the belt, you won't get anymore rubbing. And you still have probably 98% of the belt remaining. Remember how skinny belts used to be? They were less than half the size of most current belts.
