?Gas additives
Has anyone tried any gas additives to their cars? If so, which ones would you recommend? I have seen a couple in the Performance Products catalogue. I have not asked the dealer yet...and the possible warranty issues. Thanks.

DONT DO IT! Most of these additives have some negative results with any good they may have. Most of them screw up the O2 sensor and cat converter. The ECU mapping is also not setup for really high octane ratings. Don't waste your money is the bottom line.

I tried NOS octane booster. That seemed to work good and cleaned up my injectors. I also ran 100 octane racing gas but then again this was on my C36. I havent tried anything in my C240. I think I need to put on a lot more miles before I can use anything and my injectors seem fine. If I get a blower then Im gonna use 100 octane once in awhile.

A friend of mine gave me a couple of Octane 104. I put 2 bottles in. But I cant feel the difference at all. I dont think I'll try it again!

stay away from any additives
I have heard nothing good about them long term. They may give the illusion of seeming better from when you put them in, but long term some are actually harmful to engine. If you use good quality gas you shouldnt have any problems. Get a gas with good detergent level and all the additives you need are already in the gas. Same goes for oil... change it often if your that worried, but use oil...dont depend on any additives.

The manual says a lot of things which I do not agree with. But then thats just me.
Harris:
Try NOS octane booster. I noticed the other ones dont help much. You should feel a difference. If not just try racing gas. That should really help but I dont recommend you do it all the time.

Interesting story. While at my local dealer I was talking to one of the techs. I asked him if it is recommended that I put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank every 50,000 miles or so. He actually showed me some GM product called "Top End Clean" that they use in Mercedes to clean injectors. This prodcuts mixes with the fuel just like other products we have all seen. He was telling me that every 60,000 or so they recommend it .... ?!?!?!?!
Let me also caution everyone that factory recommendations don't mean much to me. Mercedes recommends NEVER changing trans or rear end oils. Mercedes also has this "questionable" 10,000 mile oil change interval we have all discussed time and time again. In the long run I always tell people, let your best common sense decide.

My C36 manual states that the fuel used should be at least 98 RON gas in order to optimize its advance curve. Unfortunately the best gas we can get here is only 95 RON.
When I first got the car I was adding 1 bottle of STP octane booster per tankful. Lately however, I had been neglecting to do that. On the pure 95 RON diet I felt the C36 actually lose some of its zest. Adding a can of NOS Octane booster cured that.
Just my 0.02

The only gas additive I have personally used isnt really a gas additive. NITROUS OXIDE baby. Its funny you really feel and increase in power when it cleans the injectors, and carbon deposits from the engine. lol
