2002 c240, 2005 c230k, 2005 ml350
inspection problem.

so my inspection is overdue and my registration is up this month. every time I go to get my car inspected they plug in the computer and two readiness monitors arent ready they keep blinking. those would be cat and 02. and also after 1 hour of driving or so my car starts to bog or either shut off. I'm assuming it's overheating problem either the o 2 sensors or my cat. you think I should get them changed. or where shuld I start since I am low on money. all help is appreciated.

also no check engine light. no codes. I have a code scanner nothing comes up

My wife had the same problem with her car, one recommendation was to pull the cable on the battery and leave the battery unplugged for a few hours and then plug it back in, this reset her computer and then after that you need to drive it for a while to have it register the sensors and collect data. But this did not work and she ended up having to get her O2 sensor replaced. When the O2 sensor fails the emissions system will show as not ready.

My wife drives a Pontiac Grand Am. With your car getting bogged down or shutting off it sounds like something other than resetting the computer and letting it collect data would not do any good. Her car ran fine with the O2 sensor faulty.

ive had an bad upstream 02 sensor cause misfires that led to limp mode (bogging). check the short term fuel trims, if it is in fact an UPstream 02 sensor that has gone bad. a clogged cat can cause 02 sensor failure, as well as cause problems of its own.
i have a couple oem v6 benz cats for sale if it came to that. good luck.
