C230 - Service Plan B Advice

The Service Plan B has come and passed 30+ days on my 2005 C230 Kompressor.

Can anyone help with what is mission critical and what is MB ploy to get me to a dealership? I have approx $80K miles and regularly get the oil changed with fully synthetic oil.

Thanks in advance - JB

Go to Glyn's sticky at the top of the forum that says "Owner's Manual, Service Manual, etc." - click on his link in the first post, go to "Maintenance Manual", find your hear, and download. That will list all of the items for A vs. B. Basically, B is a supersized A with added portions like filling your battery with water, changing the cabin filter, and more checks of everything. If you're comfortable with everything, just get your normal oil change, and then do the cabin filter/battery yourself and do all of the recommended checks. Of course, if you miss something, it's on your head.

Lots of info if you SEARCH!
It is also all laid out for you in your service booklet.

The service can be good if you aren't too mechanically inclined. They can let you know about possible problems with your car. But... They aren't called "Stealerships" for nothing.

So basically,
Change oil, filters.
Check battery, wipers/washers, all vehicle lights, seatbelts, parking brake, brakes, rotors, tires, suspension and steering components, leaks, V-belt, hood catch and hinges, and spare tire psi.

haha $80k miles? I am assuming you mean to say 80k miles and not 80 thousand dollars miles which wouldn't make sense, then again I am not one to talk I make way more and stupid misstakes here on the forum. But service B they do a done of inspections, oil change, put in a new cabin air filter, and a new intake filter. Theres more too but those are the main things that come in mind right now. I usually just have them do an oil change which is normally around $100 and then do the rest my self (well change the filters myself). Then when you go pick up your car they shoot you with a lot of expensive repair recommendations, which you should come back and search the forum about before agreeing to because a lot of the time they can be fixed and changed a lot cheeper then what the dealer says

I simply gave my service manual to my independent mechanic and asked him to follow it. My $650.00 service from the dealership became $250.00 at the indy mechanic and I have more faith inb the work being performed
