3 US spec comands left

I have 3 US spec W203 comands left here in california that are not sold...I can install these comands myself in the bay area or LA area...or maybe even San Diego area and Las Vegas...

The comands are new and come with a warranty from MB till february 2004. The installed comand will cost 1350USD...do a search on this forum about comand and/or MBenzNL to learn more about the system and my work...

I will be in california for 2 more weeks...so if anyone is interested in the 3 comands I have left, mail me at s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com .

Question

How about a price on just the command shipped to the eastcoast. Maybe you'd throw in a how to instruction sheet, for the self installer, and what additional parts would be needed. Thanks in advance, let me know.

Any disk with a DX logo on it will work, including those for another make. I bought a generic Blaupunkt disk. The latest update is due this month.

And yes the stereo sounds better.

Lightbulb COMAND DIYer's take note

Hello All,
I was fortunate enough to have steveNL install a US COMAND unit in my wifes car yesterday. I watched him work and must say that there is a lot of trim, hidden fasteners, etc. involved, rather than simply removing out the old head unit. He also splices the factory harnesses and replaces the fittings with MB OEM connectors. There was a lot of wiring "stuff" going on. It really is a factory level install. I couldn't imagine taking this on without seeing done before, or without explicit instructions. Throughout the install, steve worked with the most care to ensure that the interior was immaculate, and no damage came to the car. Once installed, it was up and running in minutes. Steve did a wonderful install, and I highly recommend his services if he is in your neighborhood. I actually paid a few dollars more because of the eBay listing, but in the end, it was worth every cent. His work is outstanding.

The price for a selfinstall package is just about the same as for the installed comand itself...simply because explaining how to install the comand takes about as long as actually installing the comand myself.
The self install package will come with an adapter harness from the currebt C connector to the comand specific C1 and C2 connector so no wire changes needed...
To install the GPS antenna it will be helpfull though to remove the instrument cluster...

No, the actual navigation CDs are not included...

As far as DVD based comands go, there is only 1 DVD based comand available at the moment and that is the one used in the W211 E-class...
I did have the pleasure to play around with a Japanese spec W203 DVD based comand and as far as compateability with the older W203s goes, there wasn't a problem at all...the comand unit itself had an integrated digital TV tuner and some nice graphics but didn't play a single (non region) DVD...
The W211 DVD based comand is MOST based instead of D2B based...so...as far as wanting to wait for a W203 DVD based comand goes, you will have to wait first to see what mercedes will come up with and whether it will or will not be compateable with the older W203s at all (mercedes might as well make the W203 DVD based comands MOST based instead of D2B based). IF the future W203 DVD based comand will be compateable with the older W203s, it might be that it doesn't play regular DVDs and that it comes with a pricetag 3 to 5 times as expensive as the comands I offer nowadays...too many uncertainties if you ask me....

Steve is the only way to go.

This is not a difficult decision.
Steve's $1K+

Dealer $2.5K +

If you are seriously considering Comand - Just do it now. this is a great opportunity.

I had my done just before "ethans dad". I agree with everything he said. Steve made it look easy, but I wouldn't even attempt to try it. It only took about 45 minutes and it was up and running. The stereo does sound much better.

greetingz,
steve what is the difference between the 3 types of bixenons? Is UK aimed more toward the left since they drive on the left side of the road?

The UK spec lights look like: \___
The US spec lights look like: __-_
The euro spec lights look like: ___/

The set price is 1100USD incl. shipping per FedEx IP...1250USD when one wants a set of clear foglights with the headlights as well.

The 3 left over W203 US comands are sold...nevertheless I have enough comands left home though...those are for the next trip.
