2002 C230 2.3l M111 oil change

I have searched far and wide in these forums and everywhere else and can't find anyone that has a DIY guide for oil changes on this engine. Everyone elses engine looks different. I guess they have the 1.8l black and white engine with the dipstick and oil filter at the back.

However my engine is red and white and dipstick is in the front.

As you can tell, I am one hell of a nubcake, but I just bought a mightyvac and want to start doing my own car work.

Can anyone point out where the oil filter would be so I can change it?

Any help would be appreciated!

Red circle is dipstick. Put hose inside dipstick hole to vacuum out the oil.
Under the cover where the dipstick is, is the oil filter.
It just pops up.

Spend the xtra coin for an actual correct tool to remove the filter.
Put a little clean oil on the new oring.

The filter wrench looks like this.
The bolts on top can be moved to the side to get a little extra traction until you get it
loose. But typically once you get it loose, you need to move the bolt back to the top so it doesn't damage anything when you spin off the filter.
Filter can be purchased inexpensively online like Rock Auto.
Go with Hengst or Mann.

I use an electric pump or drill powered pump to pump directly to containers that local
garbage company will just pick up at the curbside. So, no transferring oil from one container, pan or whatever. No mess, takes 10 minutes.
Here's the wrench for $20 on ebay.

I'm the ***** ? Less than inspiring from someone calling themselves IntimacyGel?

Glad to help. But you'll understand if I don't shake your hand Mr. Gel.
Seriously, what kind of username is that for a car forum?
Write Glyn an email and get it changed.
If I'd noticed it the 1st time, I doubt I would've responded.

Maybe 'useddooshbag' would be better?
Or 'lackofintamcysandpaper' for less slippery activities requiring some grit ?
or....the imagination runs wild with offensively lubricated screen names.
I'll be lucky if I don't get a slap on the hand just for saying *****.
But I purposely misspelled it, so maybe it'll slide since it doesn't actually mean anything.

Please keep your Gel to yourself sir.

Haha I think I'll keep my username.

I've had this online handle since counter strike and use it everywhere I tread digitally in the world. I don't plan on changing it. The name doesn't break any rules and most people get a mild chuckle, although I have noticed your abnormal displeasure.

Frequent acquaintances have referred to me as "Gel" or "Lube" and considering the site happens to be all about cars, I'd figure there would be many other worse aliases.

That being said, I do wish to thank you again as it appears you have the knowledge about my car that I seek.

Best Regards,

Gel
