Replacing the evaporator core is one BIG job. There is a clip on "youtube" that shows how to dismantle the dash. Go to youtube.com and type in "evaporator core replacement Mercedes W203". This video is in fast frame and is over 7 minutes long. In reality, I believe it will take most part of a whole day or more to dismantle. Instructions would take toooo long to type out. Good luck.

I watched this one about a year ago and since then, I've had nightmares about needing a new evap core...

I love DIYs, but this one is pretty serious stuff..at some point, DIY is spelled DIE.

Good luck!

Agreed, I'd sell/trade the car at that point. There is no telling how much it would cost in labor to do that job, but it would be a significant portion of the value of the car.

Amen. Some of the small clips in the vents and under the Head Unit are fussy enough when they're just a few years old...makes me wonder what the dealer does when those break.

Where are you located Backwoodsbenz?

I would love to do something like this. I've taken my center console out for my stereo and my left part of the dashboard for the EIS. The rest doesn't seem difficult, just time consuming.
