C230 coupe
Steering Wheel controls (right side) do not work.
I've started to restore my 2002 C230 coupe and the right side buttons on the steering wheel do not work at all. Left side is fine, but cannot change volume on stereo and of course can't properly navigate the control screen on the dash.
I went to a repair shop and of course they want to remove the airbag and see what is going on, but I don't want to pay them $90 an hour with no guarantee and of course if this is a common problem, maybe its an easy fix.
On a side note: The antenna for the radio is not working properly. Can I install an aftermarket antenna?

The buttons most likely need to be replaced. Parts are cheap, but labor can be a b!tch.
The antenna is part of the rear window; have never seen anyone override that with an aftermarket one. But doubt it's possible.

I guess that's possible, but your problem is probably the wiring from the rear window to the h/u instead of the antenna itself, so wouldn't you want to try to fix that first?

If they don't work, it's probably them. Only way to know is to crack open the steering wheel, replace them, and see if that's it, unless you want to pay someone to diagnose the problem instead, which would probably run more than having the buttons replaced in the first place.
