I just picked up an '04 C230K Coupe on Monday w/66k on the clock. I'm very happy with the vehicle so far. It appears to have some of the common problems (sunroof rattle and faded LCD). It has a cracked front grille as well, but managed to find a new replacement fairly cheap.
I convinced the dealer that I needed a $4k discount and they accepted. Thanks to the info on this forum, I think I'll be able to fix all the issues for $300 or less.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have another coupe owner, also pretty good discount on your car. Congrats!
Now you should do an engine swap and put the srt-6 engine in the coupe

if you are looking for a performance mod, i have a rare set of Kleemann Headers and Cat FS (check my signature).

I'm not sure yet if I will do any performance mods. As this will eventually be the car my son drives (turns 16 next month), not sure if I want him to drive a rocket. I have my SRT-6 now for that "holy ***t" experience when you mash the gas.
First priorities are to fix the sunroof, polish the headlights, and replace the front grille. We'll see where we go from there.

They were probably glad to get it off the lot; dealers aren't too keen on our c coupes.Originally Posted by itsky

Welcome to the forum. I'd keep a couple grand earmarked for repairs, just in case.

The funny thing is that I took it for a test drive, tested the sunroof and it made the clunking noise when trying to close it. Sales guy called me about 30 minutes later with "good and bad news". I called him back and said they could not fix the sunroof and the faded LCD. They were asking for $12k. I low-balled them at $7k and settled at $8200. Originally Posted by tommy

I am hoping to keep the fixes around $300 or less. After reading a few of the sunroof fixes, should be down to a new metal cover for the gearbox. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will be attempting a fix on Saturday.
