Snow Driving

I was thinking about buying a car and putting some mods on it. One of the cars im looking at is the C 230 Coupe; I know its RWD, but i was wondering how it faired in light snow (1-4in) and/or heavy rain? Or if there are things i can do to improve it? ie, buy tires that are better for snow.

Put 205/55-16 snow tires on all four corners, and you won't have many problems if you drive sensibly.

Yeah, light snow shouldn't be too bad. You can put some weight in the back too, it's a little light back there. Heavy rain shouldn't be a problem. Mine actually does better in heavy rain than on damp roads after it rains.

This past winter was my first with the C230K. I thought this was the most terrible car I have ever driven in snow. I think it's largely attributable to the type of tires on the car. 1-3" probably ok but, anything more--- stay home or take another vehicle.

Your sig says C7. I hope you didn't use summer/performance tires in the snow and expected good results.

I understand that the C7 wheel/tire combo is not well suited for snow but, it was much worse than I expected. I plan to purchase some snow tires ---any recommendations?

I have some stock 16" coupe wheels with Michelin tires that I will sell you. I used them last winter and they were much better than C7's. Then, if you wish, you can put snows on these wheels. Snows work better with a higher profile, so they are much better on 16's than 17's. Let me know if you have any interest.
