Little challenge to my fellow M272 Sunday Drivers..
After i had a little discussion in another thread about fuel economy, i got to thinking...How could the M272 do if i keep to the speed limit and try my best to get the best MPG i could (without cheating)
So with that being said, today i had to take a trip out to my fathers, it's about 200KM (125Miles) total, with 85% highway driving.
Normally i put the cruise on 110km/H (68Miles/H) and i get avg 7.0-7.4L per 100Km or 33.6-31.75 MPG. Not to bad in my book.
Today i took a different approach, no cruise and any long hills i had to go down i put the car in neutral. As a reminder i had to climb the same hills coming back so this was not a "down hill, tail wind" test.
Results were as follows: 6.6L per 100km or 35.64 MPG
So here is the pic of the fuel economy for the little test. Yes i know you can't really trust the on board computer but this was the best I've ever done.
I would like to see others, not just M272 members post some numbers or tell your best MPG.
Car was an 06 C230 2.5L V6 6 speed with 90K on it or 56K miles

2006 c350 4matic
funny that i just read this post. as i just started using premium non ethanol fuel this week. (the gas station i go to just started offering it)
i was blown away on how much my fuel mileage increased.
a very consitant 3 mpg across the board. i was never able to get more than 25 mpg. now i am getting 28 mpg.
my commute is similar to yours. about 85% highway.
this is a 2006 c350 4matic.
i highly reccomend trying non ethanol fuel if any of you guys can.
