Side Airbag Fault Code w/ Headliner Removal
I thought I'd ask in a separate post (I have a thread about headliner replacement on my '03 wagon) about the side air bags.
Anyone ever hear of a code being set when a headliner was being removed or replaced?
The upholstery guy said in the many, many he's done, he had ONE incident where a code was set, and the dealer charged him $400 to re-set it and re-certify the air bag.
He said it did not explode-it just set a fault code.

Air bag error code gets triggered if you disconnect the air bag and then put key in ignition,... every time key goes in ignition, car runs a series of checks to make sure everything is ok,.... if it senses that air bag is disconnected,... then you get error code. Which can only be reset with Mercedes-Benz STAR Diagnostic System.

The upholstery guy said that his usual OBD II scantool would not reset the code and only the MB DRB II Tool can be used.
He said they charged an extra hour of labor at $125 to "examine and re-certify" the bag.
They would not just reset the code w/ out doing a physical inspection (liability).
