Two Questions... Air Intake and Steering Wheel Vibration..

Just two quick questions... I tried searching the forums but with no luck so I had to make a new thread. Sorry if this has been brought up before, which im sure it has I'm just not good with the search option.

Anyways, I've noticed lately that my car steering wheels shakes when I decelerate from 65mph to 55mph anytime I'm over or under that mph my steering wheel is fine. My car has 62,XXX miles on it and I'm wondering if its the rotors that are causing this? I haven't replaced them but have changed my pads 3 times. Any input would be appreciated.

Next question.... When I replaced my thermostat a few months ago I ended up bending and tearing the cardboard air intake hose that goes from the grill to the engine. Should I buy a new hose and replace it or could I possibly just tape the bend in the hose that broke with black electrical tape so it isn't noticeable?

Petey, does the vibration occur when you are applying the brakes or just as you are slowing down without applying the brakes? If it is when you are applying your brakes, then it is probably warped rotors. If not, i would be looking at an out of balance wheel or perhaps a worn shock or control arm bushing(s). Are your wheels stock or aftermarket? they need to have a 66.6 center hub bore or it's vibration city.

As far as the intake tube, we'd have to see a pic. I would use a black fabric type duct tape. black electrical probably won't stick that well. If it's the tube i am thinking of, i bet it is not that much $$ at the dealer or benz parts supplier.
