My radio goes into PROD lockout

My radio goes into PROD lockout
After I install the oem cd changer on my c240, my radio goes into PROD lockout after 5 minutes.
Does it because the theft protection is activated by the vehicle because I install something "new" to the car? I heard that the vehicle have a unit identifier signal to check at each operation of the unit. If this identifier is missing, then the radio goes into the PROD lockout mode.
I should go to the dealer to program it or check it? Does anyone have similar problem after they installed the cd changer themsleves? The seattle dealer is always busy....they always schedule me 2 weeks later.
Thanks,Charles

Dunno what you did but there's something amiss. I installed the CD changer in my car and it has been trouble-free since. No messages. Can you check the connections of the FO loop?

I am installing a OEM changer on my '02 C240 but have come accross many problems. First I thought the car was prewired, but I assu,e it wasn't as I could not find the FO cable. I ending up removing the one from the trunk as suggested in another string. Once I did that I could not find the power line for the changer, where did you guys find the power line? anyone know what the motorola unit in the trunk is for?

Hi Mecl, You'll better don't remove any existing FO cable in the trunk, since any change in the d2b loop will cause trouble for the HU/Wheel control to recognize your stereo system.

Its kinda like these old radios that had a CODE except here the system normally queries each component. Therefore now it has issues handshaking with the radio and gets what he described in his first post.
