'05 M/B C230 Transmission / Fluid Leak
-2005 Mercedes-Benz C230 K Sedan
Hey guys, I'm new here and I need some advice/opinions...I was driving the car, doing about 40mph when all of a sudden, the rpm's just started revving up from me giving the car gas. Like I was in neutral...It acted like it wanted to go again, then seemed as if it didn't want to change gears (Automatic)...I pulled over, at this point, No Drive, No Reverse...Just engine revving up. Looked under the car and there is transmission fluid leaking everywhere.
What in the world just happened? Does anyone have a clue? Busted gasket maybe? Hope it's not the Transmission gone bad...(120k miles)
I just bought the car about 3 weeks ago so needless to say, I'm not off to a great start with my first M/B purchase, although I love the car...I have to talk to the car lot tomorrow to see what they will do...Better fix it huh!
Input or suggestions would be much appreciated.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I believe the '05 has the 5 speed auto....correct? It's common for the wiring harness "plug" to leak. Cheap and easy to fix. There's some pictures of it on this forum. The 'plug' is where the wiring enters the transmission and can be seen behind a heat shield on the passenger side of the transmission near the bottom front. Your symptoms sound like low fluid. You'll need a tool for checking the fluid level as well.

Yes, the 5 speed automatic has a problem with transmission leak at "pilot bushing adapter" Search for it,.... and "partial transmission oil change"
Post picture of the transmission oil leak under the car,.... that pilot bushing adapter is at passenger-side front corner of transmission pan.
The odd revving up and down could also be from "cam magnet sensor oil leak" ,... yeah, you know, search,.... just unplug the wires from cam magnet sensor (metal hockey puck thingy at front of engine near top),... and stick a finger in the socket-plug looking for leaking engine oil.
BTW, transmission fluid started as red,... now likely brown with red tint. Engine oil should be yellowish-brown. Use white paper towel to wipe and examine.
