Its normal...
Specially in V6 engines...
This ticking comes sometimes not always...
but dont worry about it... because i faced the same and the munifactuer or MB V6 users feed me that its normal.. and it not ticking always.. i guess this comes when the engine get warm

i have the same problem with my coupe in the mornings.. i've always attributed it to the car warming up and figured that it's part of the whole coupe sounding like a lawnmower underwater thing

Could also be the hydraulic valve lifters
But those only make noise when they are worn out. This should not be happening on a new engine. It's probably the injectors. I don't think it's an issue unless it's accompanied by other problems.

For the car that I had before (2001 C320) the ticking noise came from the purge valve. They replaced new ones and noise went away. I suggest bringing it to the dealer and have them check it out...perhaps mention to them if it could be a purge valve.

Yes the noise you hear is the purge valve. If you do a search on here you can find many topics on this issue. What shocks me is that they still have not solved this issue on the 2003 models. What a disappointment in quality
