Changed the rear brakes today

I've had my car for a few months now and the previous owner told me that it would probably need new rear brakes soon. It was a nice day and I figure it would be an easy job, so I did it.

Rear rotors were warped pretty bad and they were squeaking a lot under light braking. Now it brakes nice and smooth. I used all duralast parts from autozone. Cost was ~$80. I have ATE slotted rotors and ceramic pads up front and I've never had any problems with autozone brand brakes.

To my surprise it has 2 piston calipers in the rear. Are the fronts 2 piston too? Very straight forward and relatively easy job.

Another surprise to me was the small drum brake under the rear disc for the parking brake. My old PT Cruiser was like this too. I wonder if this had anything to do with the whole DailmerChrysler history.

Duralast pads and rotor have never let me down. This was only the rears like I said I have "good" brakes and rotors on the front. Over the years I've had a lot of trouble free miles with duralast

Don't forget to bed in the pads or they'll start squealing.

Of course. I'm betting the previous owner did not do this with the fronts because they squeak on very light braking. Anyway to fix this? They are nice rotors and pads. I'd hate to replace them when they have 6k miles on them.

If the brakes just make noise but function properly with no oscillation (what you call 'warped' rotors...a misnomer) then remove pads and apply high temp grease to pads where they contact the pistons, the 'ears' of the pads where they slide in the calipers, and positioning rods that go through the pads. Usually when pads are not bedded in properly there's uneven deposits of pad material on the rotors that set up the vibrations. Sometimes 100 grit wet/dry paper in a cross hatch pattern can clear these deposits then follow break in procedure so it won't happen again.
