Headlight Question

Good morning all. I have been looking into replacing the headlights on my C230K SS with the mercedes OEM bi-xenon but they aren't really going for cheap, especially on ebay. I came across these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USA-DEPO-01-...98b198&vxp=mtr

and just wanted your guys' input on whether they would be a suitable alternative or to just go with something else.

Most people have had good success with the Depos; do a search to find individual stories - there are a couple of horror stories, but not too many.
If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely try them before the OEMS; sh*t, you could burn through several sets of DEPOs before getting close to the OEM price.

Tommy, thanks for the advice. I really just want a set that look like the OEM bi-xenons and the ones I listed pretty much fit the bill without fitting the bill (if you know what I mean)

I had those in my C230K and they were a great deal. Properly aimed and adjusted they were 90% as good as factory for a lot less money.

ncmudbug on here also has these, I think based off my recommacommadacious.

Hella is a good brand. Do they make headlight assemblies? I usually see them for their bulbs, or ballasts.

I found them on amazon but it's looking like they only had the driver side and a set for the coupe. Still, it's Suuuuuuppppper expensive.

I absolutely bought them you your "recommacommadacious"

They are a good deal. There are a few things I would suggest you think about or do if you order them:
  1. Have Simon (fishcake) install whiter bulbs. They come with 8000K, Matt and I got 6000K but they are still a bit blue.
  2. Before you install them, make sure that the bulbs are properly installed. Check this thread if you're curious - https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...rent-mine.html
  3. Be very careful and gentle with aiming adjustments. It is apparently possible to adjust them too far and they may not be adjustable after that.
  4. Have someone with a Star machine set "xenon = present". Your $tealer will most likely NOT do it since you're working with non-MB parts.
  5. You may have some difficulty with them firing (usually one) if you have your headlights set to be always on. The "auto" setting works for me.
Let us know how they work out.

You know, I've been having a lot of second thoughts. I really want to get them but then again I think the crystal clear OEM headlights would look good too. IDK. What do you guys think?

These are crystal clear AND you can see A LOT better with them. There's no contest between halogen and bi-xenon. IMHO, you'd be a fool to buy clear halogens when you could buy clear bi-xenon.

Hi there, I've got a '05 and I'm on the same boat. I purchased a projector headlights + 5000k HID + clear side markers for $380 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/120984699573...84.m1439.l2649). I'll install them this tuesday, I'll let you know what are my initial impression

I'm not talking about the bulbs cause I could just get an HID kit. I'm mainly looking at the difference between the housing appearances.

Oh, my bad. Well, my neighbor has a bi-X c55 and I wasn't able to tell the difference between the OEM and the Depo's.

Kattanh I wasn't talking to you. lol. I should've used the quote feature. I was talking to ncmudmug about the look of the housing. If you look at the Portuguese W203 thread he has OEM clear headlight housing vice the Bi-xenon housing.

I think if you want to save money, go for the clear lens. If you want better visibility go for projectors. Whether the projectors are oem or not, it should produce better light than your halogens. If you refer to my thread, I did the lens swap also, and then ended up going with projector retrofit so you can see both "thoughts" and help make a decision. Sort of lol.
