Remove MAF??
Remove MAF??
Hello everyone! I am having issues with my 2002 C240 and was attempting to clean MAF as this is one of the main things I saw related to MB staling, ideling and running rough. Well I was able to remove the plastic clip around the MAF assembly; I was also able to move the metal clip on the back but the plastic connector wow. Does one need special tool to remove this plastic connector??
Any tricks to work in this cramp space and remove connector is GREATLY appreciated.

"No disrespect",.... but did you try the SEARCH function?
These cars are 10 years old,... lots of DIY on MAF.
Also, if you need individual help,... try being more informative,... like photos of which plastic clip or clamp you're having problems with,... plastic connector? Is that a wire plug???
Really, only one metal clamp that's a pain,... but as long as you have a cable operated hose clamp plier or really long needle nose plier, you should be fine.

I did found several DIY but they did not go into the details of removing the plastic connector/wire plug I guess it's something assumed to be easy. Anyways I did get a couple of pointers that allowed me to remove and clean the MAF. Thanks

MB plastic connector/wire plug generally have plastic ribbed tabs that you squeeze to unlock. For the MAF,... if looking from the top of the plastic connector/wire plug with wires going towards you,... you will find 2 little tabs along the side that you squeeze together.
Some MB plastic connector/wire plug have one tab-lock,... some have 2,... just look at the plastic connector/wire plug,... look for where the lock could be,... then you will find the ribbed tab nearby.
CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner,... aka CRC SensorKleen is what I would recommend.

If cleaning doesn't work (which is a fairly normal situation), AutohausAZ has good prices on replacement MAFs - I've bought a couple from them, and I haven't heard of any complaints with them. Luckily, as you've seen, once you get familiar with them, replacing a MAF is pretty straightforward.
