SRS failure on 2002 Coupe

So my high mileage SeaCoupe has a bit of a electrical glitch, but one I take seriously.

While driving I was using the a/c in the ec rest mode. Once I disengaged this and activated the a/c I got an SRS light on the dash. Hmmm, disengage the A/C and go back to ec rest, SRS lights go off.

I'm thinking I need a new climate control unit, not too sure just yet.

That's very odd, though in the scheme of things with MBs, not too surprising.
Did you cycle through all of the options w/ the hvac, not just the ec rest?
From my personal experience, I don't think my ec rest button even works any more. In summer, I just leave everything off. Another overly complex setup from MB.
Good luck with the resolution.

I had the same thoughts about replacing the climate unit a few months back (different symptom) so I took it out and disassembled it. Behind the little grill in the upper right is a miniature fan that blows air across a two pronged metal sensor and it had a hair wrapped around them. There was also lint and gunk at various places inside....it's not sealed. Removed hair, cleaned sensor with MAF cleaner, blew it out and reassembled. Works fine now. Not sure if your unit is the same as mine though. Removing the center vent is required to get at it (see AC sticky if you haven't done it).

OK....the controls are a very real possibility. When we got our SLK it had a very weird type issue ( a/c compressor would go off when you hit the turn signal or brakes. But you could turn it back on after you honked the horn). It was a short in the a/c controls. I don't know if the SLK is canbus or not, but a bad controller sending out weird signals could cause all kinds of strangeness.

Hell yes! My favorite fixes are the free ones. Thanks for the good advice.
