Any advice? C230 won't turn over...

My 2005 C230 Kompressor Coupe sometimes will not turn over. When I turn the key it sometimes will only turn over for about 1/4 second. If I release the key and retry the car then turns over and starts immediately.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
I should add that the car is a 6 speed manual.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Mileage?

How old is your car battery? Check date stamp on negative terminal? Original? 2005 made in 2004,... so 8 years old, if original. Should change car battery every 5 year,... get MB original car battery.

Go in *dyno mode* to check voltage,.... search for dyno mode if you do not know what it is,... report back voltage before start, at start, at idle and at 2000 RPM (car in park or neutral for manual)

The car has 125000 kms. The battery is dated 2004 so it must be OEM. What has me confused is that when it does turn over it does so very quickly. I wondered if it is simply a connection thing, like at the clutch or at the starter motor. I think in light of the age of the battery I'll simply replace it and see if that corrects the issue.
Thanks for your help

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere or the start of trouble with the EIS. Could also be the start relay but they usually work or they don't.

Check fuse 52 & uprate to 20 amps.

Thanks Glyn I'll uprate the fuse and see what happens.
Thanks again.

Unless the fuse has deteriorated or is making a bad connection I don't think it will fix anything but get that behind you.

C230 Coupe
I have the same issue with my 2003 c230. I've always treated it as an inconvenience and would just pull the key out, turn it over and put it back in and then, voila, the car would start with no problem. Until today. It won't start at all. I've tried numerous times. Tried in neutral. Battery has plenty of juice. Anyone have any ideas?

You ever have any luck, dougo01?
