Cam chain fault then major problem.

Hello all, first post and “OH” need advice. Bought a 03 C180 manual with 71.000 on the clock no initial bad sounds, faults, drives well and has the MERCEDES renowned badge on the bonnet, and got it for a good price, what more could you want.
1000 miles later a misfire, checked it all found nothing, then wouldn’t start, towed it to a merc specialized garage. They checked it out and told me timing CHAIN stretched,” what”. Had them fit a new chain and tensioner as they said that not all cam chain faults cause damage to the cam timing.
£500 later still wouldn’t start, chain had jumped 2 teeth on inlet cam and one tooth on exhaust cam.
Took it stripped top end all inlet valves bent all exhaust need grinding in, replaced inlet valves and guides, inspected piston heads, no deformation. Rebuilt engine with the help of a cam timing jig tool.
Started, ran perfectly 10 months 1200 miles then engine management light and a knocking tapping sound from back of engine. Took to a known mechanics who used an inspection camera and told me that No 4 piston was scrapping the bore, was caused by valve hitting crown. Tuck the head off again, a slight scraping was seen on No4 piston bore. Got same mechanic he got movement of the piston with tacking pressure of the con rod.
So engine needs to come out then rebore and oversize pistons, big end bearings, cranckshaft regrind, on a Merc, pardon.
Any help and ideas? Anyone removed an engine? Where would you recommend for engine work.
Sorry for first post, but it takes a bit of believing.

the first mechanic should have inspected the valves and being bent before replacing the chain and the pistons

your valves were bent and they put a new chain this isnt going to help...then it happend again causing the piston damage

that being said they either dont know what their doing or they ripped u off thousands

i would make them pay for everything they did

find a new mechanic and have him detail on paper what he finds

this should have been a simple strip down of engine

Cam chain streched, crankshaft worn.

Hi sammydragon3 thanks for your reply I should have explained better. They said they would fit the timing chain and tensioner as the cam timing may be ok and I did`nt want to spend much. So chance I took. But cam timimg was out so did the work myself. But it did work perfectly for 1500 miles until No 4 started knocking.
Now have completely stripped the engine. Crankshaft wants complete regrind all bearings worn but 4s big end the worst. Oversize bearings on order Merc don`t do em, and de-honne No 4 bore and a full set of rings. So now wondering what caused so much wear on a 70,000 engine.
Now got to completely rebuild. But need help with balancer shaft timing.
