CL203 AMG COUPE BUMPER CONVERSION

Hi,

As you all already know i am the proud owner of the only C32 AMG Sports Coupe of this side of world. (Canada to Argentina)

And because a lot of CL203 owners ask me for information about this "unique" exhaust system with 2 tailpipes for the coupe...let me show you guys that its not

that "unique" and i think you all could re-produce it in your local exhaust shop.

So here are the pictures with measures of the OEM CL203 AMG Coupe exhaust system.

If someone needs more help let me know!

The bumper is the CL203 AMG STYLING PACKAGE and you can find it easily in www.ebay.de. (The shipping is pricey but you cant have it all!)

Greetings from Peru!

It has a serial number. That's choice.

C350 Coupe (CL203)
Excellent info and pics for reference, thank you

I am surprised by the twin setup, thems some tight angles it has to run at to get into that box configuration, and i didn't realise there was that much space under there, given the spare wheel trough/well, i see they have added copious amounts of heat reflective protection to the underside. Also sightly surprised the pipework isn't stainless

I assume the rear bumper has a part number and came as standard with the twin holes..... is it just an insert section across the bottom that is different, or a whole new bumper ?,,,, someone with full epc access might be able to answer the part number question, if they could enter your vin, it should cough out all of the part numbers :P

I agree with you on all counts. Looks a bit restrictive as well.

Have you thought about a larger diameter stainless version?

Recreating that setup would cost a ton of money.

Awesome coupe Carlos & a big thanks for putting the thread up

Will be contacting the exhaust shop later to get some quotes for a dual exhaust system like yours.

@Tommy - not sure restrictive is the right word/description, given the 3" diameter pipework, but it certainly does not promote clean airflow or help reduce turbulence whilst maintaining gas velocity

lorensser do a twin setup like this, as well as a really nice body kit, but they are like rocking horse poo over here in the uk

nice rubber on the rear btw, i take it grip by the bucket load in the dry, but 'entertaining' in the wet ?

Back in the days of modding a Honda Civic Hatchback ,.... I had a MugenPower and Sebring muffler of similar characteristics,.... sideway sitting muffler along the rear, allowing for a longer exhaust air travel,.... they both had a really low aggressive growling tone,....

Paqueras, could you post some video clips with audio of the muffler,... basically at idle with engine revving,...

If it were completely consistently 3", I'd agree with you, but looks like the ends out to the tailpipes are not 3", and the crimping at the ends I don't really like either. I'd be interested to see a cross-section of the piping as well. Not trying to sh*t on their exhaust system, but I'm curious about how how it was designed.

The pipes that are coming from the headers are 2" 1/2 inches and then united in one 3" pipe directly to the muffler box.

Dont forget that this a V6K exhaust configuration!

I know its a little restrictive but with all the power that the engine is making a less restrictive configuration probably will be too damn loud!

The pictures are in the Peruvian MB dealership and they are installing the Bilstein PSS14 and the Eurocharged "Shorty´s" Headers...so i will wait until i drive my car and hear the sound.
Probably with the headers it will get a little deeper sound at WOT.

About the video..of course! thats one of the reason why i bought the Go Pro Camera!

I doesn't look like you have the space for a spare, that it's taken up by the muffler.
Is that correct?

Yes its correct!

My car came with a spare 18x8.5 rim wrapped in a 235/35R18 tire that i have to carry inside the trunk.

I have the anti-puncture mousse in all the tires. (Tire sealant) And the spare stays at home.

The c32 sport coupe doesnt have a spare wheel well. That is why that exhaust works.

Can you please let me know how it's secured, with pics if possible? I've got a full-size spare in my car now due to my brakes, and can't use stock location for it anymore. Thanks.

In fact there is no security system to hold the spare wheel. When i bought the car the spare wheel was there.
Right now i got it lock in one place with some ratchet straps that i use on my 4X4 truck (Mitsubishi Triton).
