Appropriate RPM at 65mph

Hi All:

Quick question - what rpm should the w203 be running at approx. 65mph? Mine is pushing 2800; seemed a little high.

Thanks!

2002 C240 6 spd manual
It would help to know what engine you have: 1.8L Kompressor, 2.3L Kompressor, 2.6L, or 3.2L and whether you have an automatic or manual.

For comparison, I have the 2.6L V6 and 6 spd manual, at 3000 rpm in 6th gear I'm at 75 mph....

Thanks, Damian, I've been meaning to start this thread myself.

Coupe with 3.2L V6, auto and stock 16" wheels:
about 81 or 82 mph at 3000rpm.

~3000 RPM around 65 in any car is normal. Mine runs about 2700 at that speed. I have a 6 speed 1.8L. This allows the car to have pickup and not bog the engine down to the point of stalling when a hill comes up. Good for us people with a standard shift tranny so we need not downshift to take on a hill. Also allows the auto to not downshift unless you need more acceleration. Saves gas in other words.
