I went to car-toys to check out some navigation's and in-dash's
and there were two of them which I liked. Pioneer app radio and this pioneer AVH-P4400BH.
http://cartoys.com/products/product_...iver-w-iPod-BT
I really enjoyed the Bluetooth compatibility and my phone can stay in my pocket at all times and I can virtually control everything on the in-dash.
I at first wanted the Dynavin Mc2000 but i feel as if I'd be paying so much for basic features.
Now my question is, has anyone installed a double din in their W203 and how does it look? Do you like it? Or should I stick with the MC2000
Car toys is also offering to wire my steering wheel controls to the in-dash as well which I'd like.

I have the Pioneer Z140BH and love it... double dins is the normal for our cars when upgrading... to keep your steering wheel function go with the AXXESS ASWC, best and easiest steering wheel adapter to me... it does a smart learn so all you have to do is press a button or two on the control and it sets up everything for you, takes less than 5mins.

the trick with our cars and installing an aftermarket HU is that when wiring your power wires the constant 12v and ign wire are switched on the harness. our cars use the same radio harness as the VW for the aftermarket radio, so when wiring them, switch the constant and ign wiring. for the illumination and ground wire, most tap into the cig wiring. Our cars use brown as the ground wire instead of black.

Wow that is exactly what I was hoping the HU to look like!
Well cartoys would be doing the installation for me since they are offering to do it for free hehe
but I'll purchase that adapter ahead of time and tell them to use it when wiring the steering wheel function! I matter of fact just ordered the adapter
Im looking forward to installing the HU now
Thanks for the images and information mate!

make sure car toys prices are right, they might say free but they might load that on the price of the parts. Call around and see how much other shops are charging for everything. sometimes buying the parts then having a shop install is cheaper. like ordering the double din mount and wire harness off ebay is cheaper. I only paid like 20-30 for the double din and harness. I eventually ordered the cf one I have now for like 120 or so.

Hmm, they asked 68 bucks for the mount but i told him i'd provide my own mount. He told me the final price would be around $600 bucks and some change
But i have a custom trim as well so I'd have to order from ebay or amazon to color match my interior trim.

But if im not satisfied with the price at the time i purchase the dash I'll most likely do the double din myself

I had a double din nav installed in my C280 4matic with the adapter plate and all, but didnt like the look at all, it just looks plain out of place to be in a mercedes. Then I got my hand on an OEM command unit for like $400 and the install is a straight swap, it evene came with the OEM old map DVD. It was a super quick and easy install. The OEM unit looks like it belongs in there, with all the buttons light up and all......well functionality wise yes it just plays the MP3 and for other functions to be active I guess you need additional stuff, but the bottom line is it looks good OEM period......

If you are the Functinality kind of guy then go for aftermarket, but if you are like me and would like an OEM kind of look then go with the mercedes command unit; the bonus is also when you sell the car the value will appreciate with an OEM head unit where in an aftermarket case the value will depreciate......cause any mod take away from the value of the car in general....unless if you can find a buyer that will appreciate your mod..........

So an OEM command is a win win..........where as an aftermarket is not so....

Again this is just my opnion......do what suits you best and what you like...

If you are looking for a deal on an OEM command unit chcek out this web site www.car-parts.com, this is a complete US based auto parts recyclers web site and you can really find good a deal on a lot of parts....try the interchangable search and plug in the year from 2005-2007....I recently picked up a command for my newly aquired 2002 C230 6MT for $225 ...just insane....

hope this helps.

I have an unknown Pioneer double din in mine. I say unknown because I have not bothered to look up the model number. I really wanna buy a Dynavin because this Pioneer just looks so out of place.

BTW Phister, is that liner on your dash/console or is that actual CF?

What's the name of the part I should be looking for? Any idea if it'll work on my pre facelift C?

Any idea how much it would cost to order a M273 or even M156? A girl can dream right? :P

As long as we're talking about HUs, I put a Pioneer X940BT in mine. I like it pretty well and I really don't use all the features (I don't have a smart phone and never tried watching a video one it - why would I want to do that?). I've put a BUNCH of my music on a micro SD card so I've never needed to play music from the DVD. The bluetooth works great. Some people like to rag on the nav, but I'm not unhappy with it.

my main reason to install a double din was for a nav function. The unit you want doesn't have navigation built in and would probably cost a couple hundred more for the nav brain unit accessory. it may be cheaper to find a unit that has one built in.

Just another question,
How are you guys doing during the summer time when the sun is out, is the screen still visible or is it hard to see?

I like the way it fits!
Would you prefer the OEM over BT navi indash?
Ah, mine has the digital climate controls and heated seats and so far no problems at all

Would you recommend this HU or an aftermarket one. I just bought a 2007 c230 and after researching all day have discovered it may be more work to install an aftermarket unit because of the telematics MB uses.
