Did you try unlocking the car with it or starting the car?

From what I read in the book, it may need reprogrammed by putting it in the ignition and switching it on.

Yes I did, I drove the car around the parkway...and nothing....I really started to wonder if it has something to do with the power locks.

You sure you put the batteries in correctly? Might be worth a check.

Omg..believe me I did so many times...I even put the old batteries back just in case I had bought the incorrect ones..but nothing...I should just leave them the way they were before...at least it was working somehow//god or bad.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
There are two systems in the key. One is a radio transmitter and requires a battery in the key to work. The receiver in the car "listens" for your key and opens the locks, locks the car, opens the trunk (not for wagons,) or fires off the panic siren. There is also an infrared circuit that runs on the battery. It will perform all of the above functions plus roll up the windows and close the sunroof (if equipped) if you hold the "lock" button while pointing the red window on the key at the photoelectric cell on the drivers door handle from a few inches away.

There is a wee LED on the key that will flash red if the battery is strong enough to operate the key. You can clean the battery and contacts with isopropyl alcohol if soiled. The red window in the key and your EIS (where you put the key) with Windex and a soft cloth.

You can take the battery out of the key and it will still start the car. You must use the metal key to open the door, but when you insert the key in the EIS a transformer primary induces a current in the key to use the Ir (infrared) system to start the car. Handy to get home if the battery dies.

The key is programmable, but it can be done only once. If your key was working, it has already been programmed, and it cannot be erased and done again. Don't buy a "spare key" from Ebay. They are worthless.

If the former goat herder that is now working as a valet at an overpriced eatery in Beverly Hills throws your key across the lot for the ex-camel jockey to hang in the little cupboard, it may jar loose the secondary coil in the key and break the wire causing the key not to work when insrted in the EIS. That is why you should not drop the key either.

There was a time when you had to attend a dealer with your "papers please" to get a new key. Legitimate locksmiths are now allowed to know the secrets of the Kingdom of Sindelfingen, and can supply keys.

Mine does the exact same thing and my batteries are correct. It will work once every 200 times... And that's it, it won't work again for a long time
