Smile m271 timing chain question

Hi everyone.
I have a 2005 c230 coupe, 6 speed manual, which I've owned since brand new. I currently have 121,000 km (Approximately 75,000 miles).
I have used a 229.5 spec oil (Motul) since the beginning, and have it changed every 15,000 km. My car has been dealer maintained since new, and has never given me any major issues in just over 8 years that I've owned it.

I was curious if anyone knows or has any input as to what factors contribute to the stretching/failure of the timing chains in the m271 engine?

I don't have any concerns yet, as I haven't experienced any of the symptoms associated with the timing chain being stretched. Looking at all the info I can find, it seems as it doesn't become an issue until the mileage is quite high.

For the owners who have had issues, is there anything you could attribute to the timing chain stretching?
Was it lack of maintenance?
Incorrect engine oil spec?
Inferior/cheap after market oil filters?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Steve.
