to the people who have their cars lowered

Hi all, I have an 18 in wheels with a set of h&r springs sitting on a c320. Although it has been lowered, I still want to get my car lower by cutting the front springs. I just want to know how much springs should I cut to make the gap between the tire and the fender very little (0.5 to 1 cm).
thanks for the help

As a general rule of thumb...keeping in mind every car is different...is that you cut 1/2 of a coil for every inch of drop you want. This is only true for the first couple of inches because the relationship between the number of coild you cut and the drop you get is not exaclty linear.
I personally would not recommend cutting your springs.

I believe half a coil should do. Cut it! I didnt for like 8 months 'cuz I was scared. But I havent noticed ANY ride difference EVEN though I switched to 19's.

I hope you have shorter aftermarket shocks installed that would be able to handle the drop.

If you're using factory shocks, keep in mind that the drop of the fender is proportional to the drop of the internal shock piston relative to the shock body. In the case of a C-Class, that should be around 3 inches from stock to where you want it to be.

In other words, you will bottom out and damage your shocks.

You're car should ride like ****. My guess would be that if you cut the springs, you either had to get shortened dampeners, or, you don't know what the proper dampening should feel like.

Why not spring for coilovers. it would be cheaper in the long run.

When you bottom out the dampener you risk damaging the spring bearing cap or event he strut housing!

Thanks everyone, I think 1/2 coil will do good.
