Ok Ive done it. ECU was sent off to Powerchip today. Lets see if these guys can give me the 11% increase in power they promised. Should be getting it back arond the 23rd. Will get back to you all with Dyno results etc.

The 23rd! thats over a week away, why so long?

 

Shipping time back and forth, plus prob. at least on day to mod it. Overnight shipping anywhere is expensive, to the point it might not be worth it.

How about one of you 2003 1.8 Liter engine owners trying the PowerChip?

I personally don't think they have sold a single chip yet for the 1.8, or someone would have posted info on the web somewhere.

I might try it once my car quits having the Check Engine light.

Right now a "Cost Benefit Analysis" would indicate spending up to $1000 for a better IC is a better value than the $840 for the PowerChip. Brabus, are you listenng?

 

No I hav'nt put my pulley on yet. I want to see what power the chip gives me first. I have a Kleemann pulley on my AMG SLK230K 1998. And of late i've had endless troubles - new airmas, air flap, kompressor clutch and accelerator actuator. Which I belive is due to fantastic power I get out the pulley. OK so I also drive it like a F1. But if the chip gives me the power I need I'll skip the pulley - maybe.
I live in South Africa so taking customs, flying time, weekends, fitting and a dyno into account the 23rd sounds a safe bet to get back to you all.

What about the C230K? Does it have
Traction control (ESP?)
8(?) Airbags
Auto-dimming mirrors
BAS
Rain Sensor
Auto headlights
Tele Aid

The auto dimming mirrors and rain sensor come with the C2 panoramic roof option not stock. Teleaid is also an option.

 

Quite right, of course. It's been a long time since I owned my C230K...


BTW, is there anyone who bought the C230K without the panoramic roof?

I have it all, its pritty much standard - Traction control (ESP?) 8(?) Airbags Auto-dimming mirrors BAS Rain Sensor Auto headlights panoramic roof Parktronic. As for Passat's they're not a big seller so one wont get there money back if one puts in more than the basic.

Buellwinkle bought his without the sunroof. I went into the dealer asking for no sunroof, but the deal was too sweet not to take the car.

The sunroof makes the car! It is by far the best sunroof I've ever owned. Resale value is better with a sunroof most of the time too.
