Wheel problem (aftermarket wheels)

Hey guys Im a first time owner of a mercedes benz i have a 2004 c240 4matic and I bought a set of 18" rims for the car after installing the rims my left rear wheel starting making a clicking noise. I put the car on jack stands put it on drive and it seems that the noise is coming from the hub assembly where the sensor is located. I was told i need to reset my computer so the vehicle can register the new size wheels, is that true?

no, most likely your stud bolts are long and are touching the e brake mechanism, stop driving or else you will completely destroy the ebrake, get the correct size lug bolts....the ebrake mechanism is housed within the hub and if the lugs are even slightly big they will intefer with the ebrake mechanism or worst will completely chew up the ebrake mechanism......

for rough estimates, put your lugs on your old wheel and see how much they protrude out and measure it if possible, now take the same lugs and put them through the new wheel and see how much they protrude out, you will see that they are protruding more then what they were doing on your old wheels......you need to either shorten them or get shorter lugs.....

Hope this helps

+1 lug bolts too long. Hopefully you didn't damage the breaking system. Hence why I did a stud conversion.
