2005 Kompressor or 2007 v6?

Hey guys, I bought an 07 E350 that I love last year and now am thinking about a new to me used commuter. My current commute it 130miles round trip. I currently drive a 06 altima with the 4 cylinder that I've owned since new that has 117k. I'm thinking of trading it in for a low mileage 05 Kompressor or 07 2.5. Which would be the best for hwy commuting, giving me the best mpg and fun driving experience?

The 2005s are getting slightly older and most you see are high mileage. I believe some of these engines had problems (could be wrong), but I do not know much about the engine. I believe many call the 05s a bit more fun with the supercharged 4 cylinder. Its mileage would be significantly better than the 07.

With the 07, you will have to check the engine number before buying. Many 07s will be "potentially" affected by the balance shaft and sprocket issue. If you find one produced after the issue, 07s were very solid because it was the last year of the model generation. Mileage isn't that great, I would suspect worse than your Altima.

While these cars would be enjoyable for a commute, they are getting slightly older, and I would be somewhat worried about how many miles are on the cars you find. You will need the car daily, so you don't want one that will end up having issues.

Like you, I'd love to drive an 05 or 07 to work, but if the Altima is still reliable, I might also consider driving it a bit longer. It's going to be cheaper to fix if something goes wrong (cheaper maintenance too) and it's the same age as the cars you want to replace it with. I've seen many Altimas with a lot more mileage than yours. It's a tough call. Good luck deciding!

The 05 I'm looking at has only 35k miles, and is a one owner car that was always dealer serviced. The 07 has 50k and is one owner and dealer serviced too. Decisions decisions....

You'll get better mpg with the 2005. I have a 2005 myself, and I usually get higher than the EPA estimates on a daily basis, mainly because I'm gentle with the throttle until the engine gets up to operating temp, but I get about 25-26 city and 33-34 highway. The 05's as you probably know are supercharged, whereas the 07 is a naturally aspirated v6, so the 07 would give you a little more "fun" but only marginally more. What I mean is you will still feel like you're having fun with the 05 when doing spirited driving. My friends love the supercharger whine too when you get the RPM's up. I have also heard that for some reason the 06 and 07 have a slightly more comfortable ride than the 05, but this may not be true. My 05 is plenty comfortable for me on stock sport springs and aftermarket 19" wheels.

Hope this helps!

it all depends on the first owner

05 m271 will still jump time which is bs but other than that i've never seen problem with internals. better lookiing and more sport parts less gas

07 c230 v6 solid engine except for the early balance shaft issue. more gas. no sport package less u get 1. no supercharger
