Need to replace air intake c230k?
I noticed that the air intake for the supercharger on my C230 Kompressor is split right behind the front grill of the car. The rubber tube is just somewhat unraveled right there. Will it hurt it if the supercharger is also sucking in some air from inside the hood? I'm going to have the dealer look at it during the next service, just wondered if it needed to be repaired soon.
Thanks!
Tim
damn thing is crap...but as soon as i put the new intake the car warmed up faster, sounded better, and ran better
its not big deal to wait but it will save gas
make sure u put the bottom clip on first or it will be a ***** to do

It didn't seem to have anything to do w/ the code, which was related to the thermostat/coolant temp, but i'm still pleased with the result.

Considering it's just a hose connecting the intake to the outside, I can't see how this thing would affect the performance of the car at all?
Looks like the bends in the tube are more for keeping water out, and even then there's another plenum where the engine air filter is located.. That's why I never bothered replacing mine..
I'm not sure why a torn hose would have a deleterious effect on operation...perhaps the engine isn't getting enough volume or the flow is too turbulent or something. All I know is that for at least a day, my car idled smoother than it has ever before.

THANKS!
A few weeks later I had an OEM replacement. No real difference between the two in how the car ran but I felt better with the new one. About $50 for the OEM version from an online retailer. Knock-offs on Amazon were about $30.
